We empower entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes to navigate the intricate landscape of financial and regulatory requirements with ease, allowing them to focus on what truly matters - building and growing their ventures. • About the Role: Do you remember the excitement of building your first backend service that just worked — processing data, connecting systems, and powering real applications? We want to give our customers that same seamless feeling when they start and run their business with doola. • We’re building the infrastructure that allows business owners to launch their company effortlessly, keep it compliant, and manage operations without friction. The services and tools exist; now we need a skilled backend engineer to help us bring it all together into scalable, secure, and maintainable systems. • At doola, you’ll play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend services and APIs that power our customer-facing applications and internal tools. Our stack includes Java (Spring Boot), Node.js middleware, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Terraform. You’ll work closely with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to deliver impactful solutions.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 3+ years of professional backend development; proficiency with Java (Spring Boot or similar) and Node.js; hands-on experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL/MongoDB; experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs (GraphQL a plus); familiarity with AWS (EC2, RDS, S3; Lambda). • Proficiency: Strong understanding of backend architecture, database optimization, and distributed systems. Skilled in writing clean, maintainable, and testable code. Comfortable debugging complex backend issues and identifying performance bottlenecks. • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote-first environment. Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. • Flexibility: Comfortable working in EU or US time zones and flexible with adjusting working hours as needed to accommodate team meetings and collaboration across different time zones. • Quality Code: You write clean, scalable, and well-tested back-end systems with strict adherence to coding standards, ensuring performance, security, and maintainability. • Bonus qualifications: Experience with Docker and containerized application development; Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation); AWS certifications or equivalent cloud experience; Startup or high-growth company experience; Knowledge of messaging systems or event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
