📋 Description

• Take end-to-end ownership of finance: day-to-day accounting, financial statements, controlling, processes, and systems • Prepare outstanding annual financial statements and submit them on time in collaboration with the tax advisor • Identify and correct historical accounting errors • Stabilize ongoing accounting and month-end closing through established routines, clear responsibilities, and reliable figures • Build controlling with budgeting, forecasting, cost and revenue transparency, and monthly reporting • Define, enforce, and document budgeting and approval processes • Implement BMD as the leading accounting and controlling system and align finance-related workflows accordingly • Set up document management for financial records, including filing structures, access rights, and a deadline overview • Provide functional leadership to the internal accounting team • Independently coordinate external tax advisors and legal counsel • Report directly to the Director of Operations and work closely with the executive management team • Optionally prepare the company for investment readiness, including the data room and financial documents for investors or transactions

🎯 Requirements

• Several years of hands-on finance leadership experience in the German-speaking market • Experience independently preparing annual financial statements and submitting them for filing • Experience working with disorganized finance structures, historical accounting errors, missing supporting documents, and undocumented processes • Experience building controlling and budgeting processes from the ground up in a company • Practical, day-to-day experience with BMD, DATEV, or a comparable accounting or ERP system • Strong knowledge of German tax regulations and statutory deadlines • Ability to work independently with tax advisors • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken • Residence and valid work authorization in Germany or Austria • Willingness to work hands-on and dive into operational details • Nice to have: experience in an owner-managed or VC-backed company with approximately 50 to 250 employees • Nice to have: BMD experience • Nice to have: experience with multiple entities, intercompany matters, or cross-border structures • Nice to have: experience with investment readiness, due diligence, data rooms, or funding rounds • Nice to have: initial people-management experience; prior Head-of-level experience is not required
