• Develop cost-effective sensing technologies for given problems • Design, build, test, and analyse sensing systems • Develop and tune sensing algorithms for product feature development • Collaborate with electronic, mechanical, embedded software, and test teams on sensing-system integration • Ensure product and system requirements are fully met • Take designs from proof of concept through development into production • Liaise with external suppliers and third parties on Dyson product requirements • Solve complex problems using novel approaches • Capture requirements and select appropriate sensing and actuating technologies with product owners • Take designs through Dyson’s design process and participate in design reviews • Motivate and mentor graduate and regular engineers
• A degree in a relevant discipline, such as Electronics Engineering or Physics • At least 2–3 years of experience in design, implementation, testing, analysis, and characterization of off-the-shelf sensors • Experience with sensors such as IMU, magnetic, pressure, Hall-effect, photo optic, and thermal sensors • Experience in camera and ISP tuning is advantageous • Experience with quantitative and statistical data analysis using Matlab or Python for sensing algorithm development • Experience with analogue signal conditioning and digital processing design techniques • Experience using hardware lab equipment • Experience in schematic/layout design and review is a plus • Experience with analysis/troubleshooting skills and tools • Experience with end-of-line calibration equipment and testers • Good understanding and appreciation of quality engineering processes • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to executive level and regular engineers
