Flashbots is a research and development organization focused on mitigating the negative externalities posed by Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) in stateful blockchains, particularly Ethereum. The company employs a three-pronged approach to address MEV by bringing transparency, democratizing access to MEV revenue, and enabling sustainable distribution. Flashbots develops core infrastructure and ecosystem tooling to redefine the block production supply chain across blockchains. Their projects include Flashbots Protect, MEV-Share Node, Bundle Relay, and MEV-Boost Relay, all designed to protect transactions, maximize profit, and promote a decentralized blockchain ecosystem. Alongside product development, Flashbots conducts research on MEV market dynamics, blockchain design challenges, and operates as a research hub for future developments in the MEV ecosystem, furthering transparency and decentralization.

📋 Description

• Contribute, support and or lead the deployment, operation, and reliability of the block builder platform from Kubernetes clusters to bare-metal environments. • Maintain and scale distributed infrastructure spanning L1 and L2 environments, ensuring consistent performance under high-throughput and latency-sensitive workloads. • Drive observability, incident response, and performance optimization through modern SRE and DevOps practices. • Build automation and tooling to simplify operations, improve developer experience, and reduce toil across our systems. • Design CI/CD workflows for high-assurance environments, including TEE-based systems and blockchain node infrastructure. • Contribute to the design of reproducible, secure environments across multiple clouds and hosting providers. • Partner with backend, research, and protocol teams to support rollup infrastructure, MEV systems, and next-generation execution environments. • Participate in the envisioning, proofing, and deployment of new L2 infrastructure components and TEE-integrated products. • Lead root-cause investigations, reliability reviews, and postmortems for production systems. • Contribute to open-source tooling and documentation that powers the Ethereum ecosystem.

🎯 Requirements

• +4–10 years of experience operating complex production systems. Ideally spanning both traditional infrastructure and crypto-native environments. • Strong command of Linux, networking, and system internals. You understand how to scale, secure, and debug systems from the OS to the application layer. • Proficient with modern infrastructure tooling (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Prometheus, Grafana) and comfortable designing CI/CD pipelines for secure distributed systems. • Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash) for operational workflows. Ideally skilled in Go or Rust for building automation and integration tooling. • You thrive in async, remote-first teams, communicate with clarity, and proactively improve shared systems. You’re deeply curious about MEV, Ethereum, and the frontier of decentralized compute.

🏖️ Benefits

• Significantly above market rate equity compensation package • Unlimited PTO with a high level of freedom and autonomy for your work • Attractive health coverage package for US employees • $3000 Yearly budget for your individual learning and development goals • Work alongside the brightest minds in the crypto space • Help save the world by ensuring crypto remains decentralized, permissionless and censorship-resistant • Remote working, while we have a preference for EU/US time zones, you can work from anywhere in the world • Paid travel - 2 x team on-site in different parts of the world per year plus periodic travel to events
