📋 Description

• Own complex, cross-functional product design work from discovery to delivery and launch • Partner with PM and Engineering to clarify problems, define scope, and set measurable outcomes • Lead discovery activities: interviews, task analyses, field/context research, and synthesize insights into strategy • Anticipate edge cases, constraints, and operational realities early in the process • Design end-to-end flows across web and mobile from low-fi to high-fi • Prototype quickly in Figma (and lightweight code when helpful) and validate with users • Drive implementation with engineering and run final design reviews before launch • Contribute to and maintain the design system (Figma + component library) and document rationale • Build trusted relationships across PM, Eng, and CS and facilitate alignment in ambiguity • Communicate clearly to drive decisions, tell product stories, and raise quality across teams

🎯 Requirements

• Typically 5–8 years of experience in product design (impact weighted over exact years) • Experience leading complex product design projects from discovery through launch • Portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, crisp UX, and ability to simplify complex workflows • Depth in user research and strong product judgment; ability to frame problems and validate solutions • Fluency in Figma and experience building/evolving design systems and component libraries • Prototyping skills at multiple fidelities (including lightweight code when helpful) • Strong cross-functional communication and storytelling with PMs, Engineers, and CS • Comfortable with ambiguity and proactive ownership of problem spaces and solutions • Collaborative, humble, and able to give and receive feedback • Bonus: experience in civic tech, climate tools, or other high-stakes, data-heavy domains
