📋 Description

• Prepare accurate, detailed cost estimates for structural steel fabrication and erection projects from initial inquiry through competitive bid submission • Review and analyze structural blueprints, engineering specifications, design documents, and scope requirements • Develop material takeoffs and calculate shop fabrication hours, field erection labor, equipment, and material costs • Use industry software and digital estimating tools to calculate quantities, model scopes, and generate bid proposals • Communicate with project managers, sales representatives, detailers, and clients about estimate nuances, scope boundaries, and value engineering • Support project planning, handoffs, and ongoing cost tracking throughout the construction lifecycle • Ask clarifying questions during bidding to eliminate scope gaps and align with project specifications

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience specifically in structural steel estimating • Proven working knowledge of steel fabrication, detailing, or erection processes • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Excel, MS Project, Revit, and SketchUp • Fluent written and spoken English communication skills • Strong ownership mentality and extreme attention to detail • Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision • Full-time availability, 40 hours per week, aligned with Oregon/Pacific Time Zone • Experience in both steel fabrication and steel detailing preferred • 3+ years of tenure at previous companies or roles preferred • Background in commercial or complex structural metal projects preferred • Familiarity with Procore is a plus • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent practical industry experience • Must be comfortable being an independent contractor and responsible for own equipment, taxes, and benefits
