📋 Description

• Serve as the Main Project Engineer and technical lead for hydro turbine mechanical design on new or refurbishment projects • Ensure turbine cross-section compliance with contract requirements and regulations, and manage component interfaces • Analyze contracts and prepare and dispatch work packages to Design Engineers • Identify technical project risks and opportunities • Plan and follow the basic design phase, coordinating with Hydraulic Design and Special Calculation teams • Perform component designs and calculations and validate critical components with Principal/Consulting Engineers • Direct design reviews and follow up on review actions • Coordinate basic design interfaces across turbine COEs and Design Engineers • Provide technical support to Design Engineers and ensure design coherence • Optimize designs with Supply Chain and Site Installation • Support the System Integrator as needed • Ensure quality and execution of engineering deliverables • Own the final cross-section and final detail drawings • Write reports, engineering calculation notes, test procedures, and operation and maintenance manuals • Conduct occasional site visits and participate in signature tests before unit disassembly • Serve as principal contact for Construction & Commissioning site support • Follow up prototype turbine performance testing on site • Develop tools and design guides for turbine engineering

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or Masters degree in a relevant discipline, including relevant experience in hydro mechanical design • Demonstrate technical leadership • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively • Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited, reference verification and background check • Availability for occasional travel, in Brazil, Canada and USA • Must be fully bilingual, mastering both Portuguese and English • Willingness to develop in-depth knowledge of hydro technical discipline using prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy • Strong oral and written communication skills • Interact fluidly with colleagues in our other facilities across and/or outside Brazil, and who are generally unable to communicate in Portuguese and whose language at work is predominantly English • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • Ability to influence others and lead small teams • Ability to coordinate several mandates simultaneously • Effective problem identification and solution skills • Proven analytical and organizational ability
