📋 Description

• Own the high-level architecture and scaling decisions for core Phone platform components, including CPaaS abstractions, provider adapters, and shared messaging/voice APIs supporting billions of monthly events • Own Phone Billing end to end, including usage metering, rating, reserve/commit lifecycle, idempotency, reconciliation, and audit trails for Phone and WhatsApp channels • Lead the evolution of Trust & Compliance systems into a configuration-driven, rules-based platform • Work hands-on with NestJS, Firestore, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, queuing systems, data warehousing systems, and service mesh-based microservices • Lead cross-cutting initiatives improving reliability, latency, and throughput across high-concurrency APIs and workflows • Drive observability and resilience through monitoring, alerting, and incident response strategies, including financial invariants • Leverage LLMs and AI tools to write, refactor, test, and debug code while implementing reliability guardrails • Partner with product, infrastructure, security, finance, and legal teams on data integrity, access control, and compliance • Develop engineering managers and senior engineers, build the leadership pipeline, plan succession, and raise the hiring bar • Participate in design reviews, deep dives, and on-call rotations

🎯 Requirements

• 9+ years of backend engineering experience and 2+ years of leadership experience • Proven track record designing fault-tolerant systems operating at billions of hits or events scale • Deep expertise in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous job processing • Experience building correctness-critical metering, ledger, billing, payment, or comparable transactional systems • Working grasp of idempotency, exactly-once semantics, and reconciliation • Experience optimizing availability, performance, and reliability under load • Strong experience with relational and NoSQL data models, especially complex transactional data • Experience designing policy- or rules-driven systems that evolve with external requirements • Familiarity with monitoring, SLOs, and root-cause analysis in production • Familiarity with hallucination mitigation strategies, such as code constraints, test scaffolding, embeddings, and context injection • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills • Pragmatic, hands-on leadership balancing long-term vision with iterative execution • Preferred: usage-based billing or metering engines, telecom trust and compliance regimes, provider-agnostic integration layers, AI tools, communication APIs, and open-source or engineering-platform contributions
