• Drive profitable growth and strengthen agency partnerships across Ohio. • Serve as a trusted partner to independent agencies, balancing sound underwriting judgment with relationship management and business development. • Identify growth opportunities, evaluate complex commercial risks, and help strengthen our position in a territory that plays a key role in our long-term success. • Work closely with our Territory Sales Managers and help agencies place profitable business with Hastings while delivering underwriting expertise and responsiveness. • Develop and strengthen relationships with independent agency partners throughout Ohio. • Identify opportunities to grow Hastings' Middle Market Commercial portfolio by partnering with agencies to write profitable new business. • Conduct agency visits and serve as Hastings' field representative within the assigned territory. • Review, evaluate, and underwrite new and renewal middle market commercial business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority levels. • Analyze commercial risks, exposures, pricing, and coverage needs to support sound underwriting decisions.
• 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience, preferably within Middle Market business segments. • Demonstrated success evaluating commercial risks and making sound underwriting decisions across a variety of industries and exposures. • Proven ability to build, maintain, and grow relationships with independent agency partners. • Demonstrated ability to identify new business opportunities and contribute to profitable commercial growth. • Experience balancing business development objectives with disciplined risk selection and profitability goals. • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • AU, CPCU, or other industry designations preferred. • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, coverages, pricing, and underwriting principles. • Proficiency with underwriting systems, agency management tools, and Microsoft Office applications. • Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
