📋 Description

• Lead development of Headway’s ranking and relevance models for patient-provider matching • Design and scale ML models for matching and ranking, search, recommendation, and personalization • Use patient signals, provider attributes, and outcomes data to improve matching accuracy • Establish ML infrastructure for experimentation, model training, deployment, and monitoring • Set technical direction, build the initial ML stack, and mentor junior ML engineers and data scientists • Partner with product, engineering, and data science to define success metrics, design A/B experiments, and influence product strategy

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in applied ML roles, with at least 1 year working on ranking, relevance, search, or recommender systems • Fluent in Python • Experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, CatBoost, etc.) • Taken ML models from research/prototype to production at scale • Comfortable designing and running A/B experiments and choosing offline and online metrics • Combine product intuition with technical depth and focus on patient experience • (Nice to have) Experience with matching systems or personalization • (Nice to have) Familiarity with modern retrieval techniques (vector search, embeddings, semantic search) • (Nice to have) Exposure to ML infrastructure such as feature stores, model monitoring, and retraining pipelines • (Nice to have) Experience with Metaflow, SageMaker, and Outerbounds
