📋 Description

• Build production-grade AI systems end-to-end, from prototype to pipeline to product • Own the evaluation layer for Hilbert's agents, including harnesses, metrics, golden datasets, regression gates, and human-in-the-loop review • Define what correctness means for multi-step agent trajectories • Build regression gates that run before releases • Convert production failures into durable test cases and fixes • Architect and implement agent workflows using LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent frameworks • Design state memory, routing, tool registries, and recovery paths • Own systems from experimentation through production • Operate production systems through tracing, monitoring, latency management, cost-per-task budgeting, and on-call support • Diagnose hallucinations, tool misuse, retrieval misses, and silent degradation • Set technical standards, review designs, and define reusable agent patterns • Collaborate with the founding team and cross-functional partners • Communicate tradeoffs, progress, and technical decisions clearly • Combine RAG, graph-based retrieval, and other approaches into unified retrieval strategies • Build robust agentic workflows that handle edge cases, missing data, escalation to humans, and failure prevention • Integrate agents with external platforms and execute real-world workflows with human-in-the-loop checkpoints • Ship, learn, and iterate under ambiguity

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of building production software • At least 2 years building LLM or agentic systems used by real users in production • Experience with APIs, services, and data infrastructure • Experience owning code with tests, CI/CD, and on-call responsibilities • Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent agent/orchestration frameworks • Experience designing and implementing agent workflows, including state memory, routing, tool registries, and recovery paths • Ability to operate production systems, including tracing, monitoring, latency, cost-per-task budgeting, and on-call • Experience diagnosing production failures such as hallucination, tool misuse, retrieval misses, and silent degradation • Strong understanding of retrieval-augmented generation, preferably hybrid and graph retrieval, chunking, embeddings, ranking, and grounding • Experience with LLM observability tools such as Langfuse, OpenTelemetry, or equivalent • Experience with cost and latency optimization • Knowledge of MCP, tool-calling frameworks, structured output, and constrained decoding is a strong plus • Experience at early-stage startups or high-growth environments is a strong plus • Clear technical communication and ability to explain decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Ability to take ownership, work autonomously, thrive in ambiguity, and move at startup speed • Ability to work with at least 5 hours of overlap with the PST timezone
