📋 Description

• Prepare detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and GA (General Arrangement) drawings for structural steel projects. • Interpret engineering and architectural drawings, specifications, and design documents. • Develop accurate 3D models and steel detailing packages using industry-standard software. • Produce BOMs (Bills of Materials), cutting lists, and material take-offs. • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, estimators, and fabrication teams to resolve design and constructability issues. • Review drawings for compliance with Australian Standards and project specifications. • Manage revisions, RFIs, and drawing updates throughout the project lifecycle. • Ensure documentation supports efficient fabrication, installation, and project delivery. • Conduct quality checks on drafting outputs before release. • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve detailing accuracy, fabrication efficiency, and workflow processes. • Mentor junior draftsmen and provide technical guidance where required. • Liaise with Australian stakeholders regarding drawing approvals, technical clarifications, and project requirements.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in structural steel detailing or drafting in mining, industrial, infrastructure, or heavy fabrication projects. • Strong experience producing fabrication and shop drawings for structural steel projects. • Proficient in architectural drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArchiCADRevit, BIMx); TEKLA Structures must be your primary drafting software (non negotiable) • Strong understanding of: • - Structural steel fabrication processes • - Welding and connection detailing • - Plate work, pipework, and industrial steel structures • - Material take-offs and BOM generation • Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings. Should have a solid experience with point cloud 3D scanning technology and the ability to produce accurate models directly from scan data • Experience working with Australian construction or fabrication standards. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy. • Excellent communication and coordination skills. • Familiarity with CNC-driven fabrication workflows and steel processing environments. • Familiarity with fabrication workshops and site installation teams. • Degree or background in Drafting, Engineering, Structural design, Architecture, or a related discipline.
