📋 Description

• Define and validate MVP requirements focused on public communication, education, and learning outcomes • Develop a public-facing MVP dashboard communicating SUNCASA nature-based solutions in Kigali • Present a limited set of indicators through maps, charts, tables, visualizations, narratives, and explanatory text • Organize indicators around climate adaptation, biodiversity protection, gender equality and social inclusion, and employment and economic opportunities • Use existing SUNCASA data and selected publicly available sources • Design and implement an accessible bilingual user experience supporting English and Kinyarwanda content • Assess interoperability opportunities with the Rwanda Forestry Authority’s Forest Management and Evaluation System (FMES) • Implement an architecture that facilitates future data exchange and integration with FMES without requiring full integration at this stage • Avoid unnecessary duplication of FMES datasets, calculations, indicator definitions, and metadata structures where appropriate • Use simple, well-documented, modular components that can be adapted or extended in future phases • Collaborate with the Rwanda Forestry Authority, City of Kigali, SUNCASA project team, and IISD • Provide technical documentation and a short handover to support maintenance and future development • Include a proposed approach to interim hosting, maintenance, and transfer to a future host organization

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience developing web-based data dashboards or visual analytics tools • Experience delivering public-facing dashboards, data portals, or comparable products focused on communication, storytelling, or transparency • Strong front-end and data visualization skills • Ability to design and implement clear, accessible visualizations, including maps, charts, and tables, for non-technical audiences • Experience working with geospatial and indicator-based data • Familiarity with basic GIS concepts and integration of spatial and non-spatial datasets for visualization • Ability to design lightweight, scalable technical architectures • Experience building modular, documented MVPs or prototypes suitable for future expansion • Experience collaborating with public sector or development organizations • Ability to operate within defined scopes and budgets and deliver to agreed timelines • Proficiency in appropriate programming languages and tools, such as JavaScript, Python, R, common visualization libraries, or frameworks • Ability to produce concise technical documentation and conduct a short handover • Experience with environmental, forestry, natural resource management, or geospatial information systems is an asset • Firms or individuals should have demonstrable experience delivering comparable MVP-level dashboards • All applications must be submitted in English • Submission of at least two references from previous related projects
