β’ Validating issues of all complexity with minimal guidance including issues with regression risk β’ Contributing both fixes and new tests to automated test suites; support junior Quality Assurance Engineers automation tasks via mentorship β’ Diagnosing run failure reports properly and transform them into actionable tasks β’ Focusing on testing-related items within the development lifecycle, including testability of requirements, implementation, and testing (collaborating with development along the way) β’ Consistently meet target threshold for regression tests execution; add manual test cases where appropriate, identify deficient test cases, and provide mentoring on test case development and execution β’ Developing and executing test plans that cover all functional requirements; determine applicable test strategies for medium/high complexity bugs and features in team-relevant Ignition product areas β’ Working toward and maintain an advanced level of proficiency across multiple Ignition product areas within the team's scope; gain proficiency as a subject matter expert in a product area β’ Breaking down complex testing efforts into simpler phases that can be tested by less experienced engineers β’ Prioritizing unowned or undesirable work that enables the team to move faster β’ Demonstrating autonomy without sacrificing quality or delivery time; resolving and overcoming medium scale blockers or challenges β’ Working with the Quality Assurance team and adjacent teams to solve problems; escalate problems that have wider scope β’ Building relationships with stakeholders which may include customers, product managers, cross-functional partners, and external partners β’ Ensuring that knowledge is shared amongst the team and does not position themselves or others as a single point of failure β’ Resolving issues and sharing knowledge by improving the execution of the Support Division, Training Department, Sales Division, etc β’ Working towards and maintaining an advanced understanding of industries that use Ignition, our customer base, and the purpose of SCADA software β’ Staying knowledgeable about the company, its values, each division's contributions, and the company's industry contributions β’ Helping junior engineers with issues and support them with their technical growth β’ Improving team strength by advising managers and other leaders with insights and recommendations
β’ Bachelorβs Degree in Computer Science/Engineering OR at least 4 years experience working in a related field β’ 3-5 years of industry experience β’ Firm grasp of troubleshooting skills within a complex application environment, including debugging of errors, identifying the source of performance issues, parsing of logs and stack traces, and determining reproducible steps for issues β’ Strong programming knowledge with at least one language, including understanding of functions, conditional statements, and basic object oriented concepts (Python, Java/JavaScript, C++) β’ Strong understanding of the SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle) and each of the phases β’ Proficient with source control management systems, such as Git, and common usage (clone and checkout of repositories and specific branches, commits and merge conflicts) β’ Proficient with setup and querying of SQL databases (MS SQL Server, MySQL, similar) β’ Proficient in using Windows, Linux (Ubuntu), and macOS platforms, including working from the command line, and debugging issues with applications running as a service β’ Experience with deploying applications using virtualization software (VMWare, Docker Desktop), including creating images, debugging running containers, and use of persistent data (volumes) β’ Experience with bug tracking systems and writing proper bug reports β’ Familiarity with well-known protocols in the Internet protocol suite and their usage in applications (TCP/UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, IP)
