📋 Description

• Design and implement high-performance microservices in Java and Spring Boot • Build and maintain event-driven integrations using Apache Kafka • Own the data layer, including schema design, query optimisation, and PostgreSQL migrations • Work in a containerised cloud-native environment using Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP • Maintain code quality through reviews, testing standards, and CI/CD discipline • Mentor team members and promote quality and continuous improvement • Own features end-to-end from requirements through production and beyond • Work directly with business stakeholders to challenge assumptions and align on solutions • Develop deep understanding of product context, customer impact, and feature rationale • Navigate a large organisation, build cross-team relationships, and deliver initiatives • Write technical documentation, including System Design documents, RFCs, and ADRs • Identify and address technical debt proactively • Participate actively in architecture discussions with well-reasoned proposals

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial Java development experience • Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices, event-driven patterns, and inter-service communication • Deep JVM internals knowledge: memory model, GC tuning, concurrency, and performance profiling • Apache Kafka experience, including producers, consumers, consumer groups, offset management, and error handling • PostgreSQL experience, including relational modelling, indexing strategy, query plans, and schema migrations • Day-to-day production usage of Docker and Kubernetes • Experience with Maven/Gradle, Git, JIRA, Confluence, code reviews, and CI/CD • Proven ability to work with non-technical stakeholders and write design documents • English B2+ for team and stakeholder communication • Proficiency in leveraging AI tools and large language models, such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs and apply them responsibly within professional workflows • Nice-to-have: Kotlin development experience • Nice-to-have: Domain-Driven Design (DDD), CQRS, and Event Sourcing • Nice-to-have: gRPC and GraphQL • Nice-to-have: GCP Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, GKE, and Cloud Spanner • Nice-to-have: MongoDB • Nice-to-have: Experience with high-throughput, low-latency systems • Nice-to-have: Background in e-commerce, logistics, or fintech
