âą Own the technical depth of the vulnerability intelligence practice âą Determine the validity and impact of newly disclosed CVEs and recommend customer actions âą Set the technical standard for validating, assessing, and communicating vulnerability risk âą Build and maintain tooling for vulnerability research and assessment âą Design, build, and deploy honeypot systems to monitor exploitation activity âą Acquire, test, and validate proof-of-concept exploits in virtual environments âą Develop practical mitigations beyond patching, including configuration hardening, network segmentation, ACLs, disabling features, and other controls âą Devise techniques to detect attempted and successful exploitation and identify artifacts for defenders to hunt âą Write detailed vulnerability reports covering exploit mechanics, threat actors, and targets âą Build and maintain systems to streamline vulnerability assessment and automate vulnerability-alert triage âą Train and mentor junior team members
âą Validate and test PoCs to verify the validity of exploitation claims âą Devise mitigation techniques beyond patching âą Devise techniques for detecting exploit activity, attempted or successful âą Write vulnerability reports such as Vulnerability Spotlights âą Identify new sources of vulnerability intelligence âą Train and mentor junior team members âą Proficiency with at least one programming language (Python, Go, C/C++, or similar) sufficient to read exploit code, modify PoCs, and build tooling âą Hands-on fluency with virtual machines, containers, and reusable lab environments for safe detonation and analysis âą Solid computer science fundamentals âą Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, TLS, authentication and authorization models, and real-world system deployment âą Demonstrated subject-matter-expert-level depth âą Working bias toward automation âą Strong candidates: experience building honeypot or sensor systems to monitor real-world exploitation activity âą Strong candidates: experience building systems that streamline or automate PoC testing and validation âą Strong candidates: ability to integrate a new intelligence source end-to-end, from evaluation and ingestion to normalization, enrichment and delivery âą Valuable: original vulnerability research or CVE credits âą Valuable: reverse engineering skills âą Valuable: detection engineering (Sigma, Snort/Suricata, YARA) âą Valuable: SOC experience âą Valuable: familiarity with CVSS, CWE, EPSS, and the KEV catalog âą Valuable: public speaking or published writing
