📋 Description

• Monitor official sources, Hebrew-language media, wire services and other news outlets for breaking developments. • Write and publish clear, accurate breaking news updates for the JNS live ticker. • Maintain a steady flow of news updates throughout each shift, increasing output significantly during major breaking news events. • Exercise strong editorial judgment to determine what constitutes breaking news and how stories should be prioritized. • Verify information before publication and adhere strictly to JNS sourcing and attribution standards. • Coordinate closely with the Shift Editor and Breaking News Desk Lead throughout each shift. • Ensure seamless handoffs during breaks and at shift changes so coverage remains continuous. • Assist with monitoring social media and other emerging sources while following JNS verification protocols. • Contribute to ongoing improvements in workflow, monitoring practices and newsroom efficiency.

🎯 Requirements

• Previous newsroom or journalism experience, preferably in breaking news. • Exceptional news judgment and the ability to identify stories quickly. • Excellent English writing and editing skills. • Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Familiarity with Israeli current affairs and the regional news landscape. • Ability to read Hebrew is strongly preferred. • Comfortable working collaboratively in a remote newsroom using Slack and other digital tools.
