📋 Description

• Prepare and file key tax documents, including Forms 990 (2), 990-T (1), 4720 (1), 1042 (<40), property tax exemptions (2), and charitable registrations (<15). • Advise and train university departments on tax compliance, planning, and reporting, helping embed tax requirements into daily operations. • Develop and implement best practices by collaborating with teams to integrate tax compliance into workflows and business processes. • Monitor changes in tax laws and update internal policies and procedures accordingly. • Assess university activities for tax implications, including unrelated business income (UBI). • Conduct tax research, respond to notices, and maintain thorough documentation to support filings and tax positions.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of tax experience in higher education or public accounting, focused on nonprofits. • Master’s degree in accounting or taxation. • Certifications : CPA license required. • Strong expertise in nonprofit tax compliance, return preparation, and operationalizing compliance. • Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and documentation. • Skilled in researching complex tax issues and supporting tax positions clearly. • Effective communicator who works well across teams and leadership levels, while also thriving independently. • Experienced in translating tax law into practical compliance programs, training, and operational best practices. • Approaches challenges with perspective and a focus on continuous improvement and practical solutions.
