• Performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter • Devises new approaches to problems encountered • Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment • Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers • Responsible for the design and modeling of mechanical components to interface with optical elements • Develop detailed drawings of optical elements and overall optical system • Support trade studies and recommend system architecture and design approach • Conduct analysis and evaluation of a design concept to produce realistic assessment
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent 7+ years of related experience • Specific knowledge related to the mechanical design mounts and modeling of opto-mechanical systems • Proficient in CAD software (Solid Works, NX) • Ability to work all phases of opto-mechanical subsystems • Develop assembly and test procedures • Must be capable of leading the development of design concepts • Prior experience with NASA or other work related to space flight hardware
