• Establish, implement, and oversee a comprehensive global security strategy with focus on high-risk regions such as the DRC • Design and implement a scalable, risk-based security program and physical surveillance protocols for high-risk zones • Develop site-specific security plans for exploration camps and project sites, including access control and emergency response • Establish and manage protocols for workforce travel to high-risk locations and oversee protective services and secure logistics • Coordinate security policies and activities with Operations, Legal, and Government Affairs to ensure compliance and ethics • Produce actionable intelligence briefs and provide routine briefings to leadership and partners • Lead crisis management framework including kidnap & ransom preparedness and medical evacuation planning • Select, onboard, and manage vetted local and international security providers and develop vendor pass matrices • Partner with Community Engagements teams, train community champions, and support crisis communications • Liaise with US Government, host country authorities, international organizations, and local communities; build networks with provincial governors, military/police commanders, and customary chiefs • Develop intelligence channels on corruption, artisanal mining encroachment, and organized crime; coordinate risk mitigation tied to election cycles and protests • Ensure compliance with laws, mining codes, and human rights frameworks; deliver training on personal security and emergency procedures
• Minimum 12 years of experience in corporate security, development, law enforcement, military, or intelligence • At least 5 years in a leadership capacity • Minimum of 5 years in corporate security • Experience in Sub-Saharan Africa • Proven ability to develop and manage enterprise-wide security programs in remote and logistically complex settings • Experience with international operations (US military, UN Peacekeeping, USAID, Department of State’s Africa Bureau) • Knowledge of balancing private security operations with artisanal miners, NGOs, and civil society in fragile states • Familiarity with US FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and local anti-corruption frameworks • Experience in the mining, oil & gas, or natural resources sector strongly preferred • Knowledge of global standards for Private Security Contractors (IFC or equivalent) • Excellent knowledge of travel risk management, emergency response, and security technology • Strong leadership, negotiation, and cross-cultural communication skills • Willingness to travel extensively and work in remote field locations • French language proficiency (medium to high) required
