📋 Description

• Own data science projects end to end, including problem framing, method selection, modeling, validation, and presenting results • Ship certified, production-ready data products, including models, scores, and features • Design, run, and interpret experiments, including hypothesis formulation, sizing, and interpretation of inconclusive results • Build and maintain predictive models and analytical pipelines using Python or R, SQL, and dbt on Databricks • Help set the data science roadmap alongside the Staff Data Scientist and Director • Partner with embedded analysts to drive adoption of data science outputs • Work with the Data Platform team to validate data quality and upstream data-product reliability • Mentor analysts and less experienced team members • Contribute to code reviews and team standards • Maintain documentation and reproducible code

🎯 Requirements

• 4–7 years of professional experience in data science, applied statistics, or a closely related quantitative field • Track record of owning projects independently, from ambiguous ask through delivered result, without daily oversight • Results-driven mindset focused on measurable business impact such as churn, usage, and revenue • Strong SQL and fluency in Python or R • Solid grounding in statistics and experimental design • Judgment to prioritize what to work on, defer, or decline • Excellent communication skills, including explaining technical work to non-technical audiences • Preferred: Experience as the only data scientist or one of very few on a team • Preferred: Hands-on experience with Databricks and dbt • Preferred: Exposure to production ML systems, recommendation engines, or MLOps practices • Preferred: Experience in a subscription or SaaS business, particularly churn, retention, and usage analytics • Preferred: Familiarity with a data mesh or distributed analytics operating model
