• Develop and lead Loom's political engagement strategy, identifying key political stakeholders, audiences, moments, and channels for engagement. • Participate in Loom's strategic planning processes, bringing an external perspective on the political and communications environment. • Identify, map, and prioritise political stakeholders relevant to Loom's institutional agenda and cultivate those relationships directly and with the support from consultants and partners. • Identify opportunities for new projects or workstreams arising from political developments and trends. • Contribute to the design of new projects, ensuring communications and political strategy considerations are embedded from the outset. • Build an actionable network of Senior Fellows/consultants and partners able to advise and facilitate political engagement across Europe, particularly in conservative and anti-establishment circles. • Oversee public opinion polling initiatives to support Loom’s projects and political engagement, commissioning, interpreting, and deploying findings strategically. • Advise Programme Directors on framing and output strategy to maximise political and media impact; support offline dissemination to policy audiences, in close collaboration with the Digital Communications Manager. • Build and maintain relationships with key journalists, editors, and media organisations in key countries in Europe. • Act as a media spokesperson for Loom where appropriate, and prepare and support other Loom spokespeople. • Draft communications outputs for political and policy audiences, including press releases, op-eds, executive briefings, and relevant digital content. • Identify and pursue opportunities for Loom's work and leadership to feature in high-impact media outlets. • Manage media enquiries and coordinate rapid response where required. • Collaborate with Loom’s Digital Communications Manager to ensure coherence and impact across all platforms and audiences.
• 10+ years of experience in public affairs, political communications, or government relations, ideally in a think tank, business or political institution. • Deep knowledge of the European political landscape, including conservative and right-of-centre political movements and parties. • Proven track record of building and managing relationships with senior political stakeholders and journalists across multiple countries. • Experience commissioning and deploying public opinion research strategically. • Experience managing external consultants and agencies across multiple markets. • Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to draft op-eds, press releases, and executive briefings to a high standard. • Experience acting as or preparing media spokespeople. • Ability to advise on political framing, messaging, and timing of communication outputs. • Fluency in English; additional European languages a strong advantage. • Existing network across European conservative, national-conservative, or anti-establishment political circles.
