• Maintain the company’s load-testing platform, including bug fixes, dependency upgrades, infrastructure upgrades, and targeted improvements. • Design load-testing scenarios that accurately model real-user behaviour. • Implement test scenarios in Python against customer systems’ protocols. • Work directly with customers and their engineering teams to define objectives, build scenarios, run tests, analyse results, identify bottlenecks, implement changes, and repeat testing. • Participate in technical customer sessions and grow into leading those sessions. • Investigate systems under stress using metrics, traces, logs, and application behaviour. • Explain performance findings and latency behaviour clearly to customers. • Challenge test scenarios that will not answer the intended question. • Make sound engineering recommendations during live and iterative load-testing engagements. • Solve practical performance-engineering problems involving test data, account pools, flaky protocol clients, awkward environments, and load-specific behaviour.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience with meaningful ownership of shipped work. • Strong Python skills. • Hands-on cloud experience, ideally with AWS, including infrastructure as code and containers. • Understanding of the technical and financial impact of aggressive infrastructure scaling. • Breadth to maintain a typed backend and React frontend not originally built by the candidate. • Practical understanding of distributed systems and failure modes, including timeouts, back-pressure, connection limits, resource contention, and the difference between slowness and actual failure. • Communication skills to lead technical customer sessions, explain findings clearly, and make sound engineering recommendations. • Excellent spoken and written English. • Experience with performance or load-testing tools such as Locust, k6, JMeter, Gatling, or self-built tooling is a strong advantage. • Experience with games, real-time systems, or high-traffic consumer platforms is useful but not required. • Willingness to work some test windows outside normal office hours.
• The opportunity to work on systems behind products used by very large numbers of people, at the moments when reliability matters most. • A role that combines hands-on engineering, deep technical problem-solving, and customer delivery rather than being purely a ticket queue or purely consultancy. • Real ownership of a mature load-testing platform that is already built, proven, and working, with the freedom to improve it as our needs evolve. • Room to grow with Cyrex. As you build expertise and take on more responsibility, there are opportunities to lead larger and more complex engagements, deepen your technical ownership, help shape how we approach performance engineering, and grow into broader technical or team leadership roles. • Direct contact with the engineering teams you’re helping, with the opportunity to become a trusted technical counterpart to some of the world’s most demanding technology companies. • Direct access to founders and leadership, with decisions made in days rather than quarters. • Competitive compensation with straightforward, regular reviews. • A small, multicultural team where your contribution is visible and where there is room to shape your role as the company evolves.
