📋 Description

• Lead and scale the Legal function, defining the optimal team structure within the first 30–60 days and establishing a clear vision for growth. • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, aligning legal strategy with business goals to balance risk management and agility. • Provide counsel across a wide range of corporate, commercial, and compliance matters, including contracts, partnerships, employment, data privacy, and regulatory issues. • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements such as vendor, licensing, partnership, and service contracts. • Develop and implement legal frameworks, including policies, templates, and a comprehensive commercial playbook, to drive consistency and efficiency. • Oversee the cleanup and centralization of the company’s legal repository, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance. • Stay current on laws and regulations impacting the business, including data privacy and ESG-related requirements. • Foster a culture of clarity, accountability, and urgency within the Legal team, ensuring near-term priorities are managed while enabling long-term strategy. • Demonstrate decisive, visible leadership and strong executive presence across the organization.

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. • 7–10+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally a blend of law firm and in-house counsel roles. • Proven ability to advise senior leadership on complex commercial, compliance, and operational legal matters. • Exceptional contract drafting, negotiation, and communication skills. • Strong cross-functional influence and business judgment. • Experience within Information Services, Enterprise SaaS, or high-growth/private-equity-backed companies preferred. • Familiarity with data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA) and ESG frameworks. • Active license to practice law in New York preferred but not required.
