• Operationalizing communication strategies: Drafting and distributing a wide range of materials and actions, including press releases, press briefings, social media content, op-eds, blogs, and communication support during events. • Crafting targeted messaging: Developing audience-specific messaging to support both short-term and long-term campaign goals, ensuring consistency across platforms. • Digital channel coordination: Collaborating with in-house digital specialists to help curate editorial content and run as well as advice on digital campaigns. • Media relations support: Fostering links with Spanish journalists covering climate, housing, and national affairs, helping brief reporters and boosting media awareness of core narratives. • Campaigning: Supporting the implementation of agile campaign strategies across a range of channels, including earned media/PR, broadcast, social media, programmatic, digital-out-of-home, and influencer engagement. • Impact monitoring: Keeping track of media mentions, monitoring outcomes, and contributing to tracking data to help improve future campaign activities. • Event coordination: Coordinating online or in-person events in Spain, helping with the initial concept and supporting delivery through to completion. • Spokespeople cultivation: Identifying and elevating diverse voices and spokespeople who can talk convincingly about the benefits of better homes and buildings. • Political and media tracking: Monitoring the political and media debates in Spain regarding building standards and energy efficiency to help identify where communications can be usefully deployed. • Reactive outreach: Delivering timely reactive communications support and outreach to national and regional partners. • Any other duties to be assigned from time to time.
• An enthusiasm to learn about complex, technical topics, such as building decarbonization, and help transform policy details into compelling narratives. • A good understanding of policy-making processes in Spain, including the dynamic between national ministries and autonomous communities. • Familiarity with the Spanish media landscape and an understanding of strategic story placement. • Experience crafting clear written content with a journalistic flair. • The ability to develop a reliable network of relevant actors, such as housing associations, technical experts, progressive businesses, or civil society leaders. • Fluency in both written and spoken Spanish and English. • The organizational skills necessary to work in a fast-paced environment across different time zones using tools like Slack, Asana and Google Workspace. • The capability to meet deadlines reliably under moderate supervision. • A commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to addressing climate change and housing standards. • You are based in Spain, with a preference for Madrid or Barcelona. • Additional languages are an asset.
