• Lead a team of accountants and financial professionals. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information to the Director of accounting and outside entities. • Accountable for overall effectiveness and compliance with established accounting practices and procedures. Oversees timely completion of third-party statement reconciliations and prompt resolution of all items. • Works in conjunction with state examiners and outside auditors to coordinate audits, prepare work papers, and gather pertinent financial information for annual audit reports. • Analyzes operating results relative to established guidelines and takes appropriate action to improve performance, productivity, and effectiveness. • Works with leadership to complete projects and requests from other business units. • Leadership responsibilities include training and developing direct reports, providing coaching and documenting performance. • Other functions may be assigned.
• Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA certification preferred) • 5 years accounting experience, 2 of which must be in the insurance industry along with 2 years supervisory experience. • Strong accounting principles and practices • Proficiency in using accounting software and Excel • Familiarity with Statutory and US GAAP • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure
