📋 Description

• Oversee the operation and planned maintenance of all ship’s hospital infrastructure systems and equipment. • Define maintenance priorities and support spare parts planning for essential hospital systems. • Provide technical support to onboard maintenance teams for defect management, troubleshooting and resolution. • Coordinate and oversee external contractors, service providers and manufacturers. • Create and manage service requests, work reports and spare parts procurement within the Planned Maintenance System (PMS). • Conduct annual hospital inspections onboard each vessel in accordance with Company procedures. • Become familiar with marine Classification Society Rules and Regulations. • Attend vessel annual maintenance periods (AMP) to support planned work and major repairs during hospital downtime. • Maintain a working knowledge of the Company Safety Management System (SMS). • Develop, review and continuously improve SMS procedures related to hospital operations. • Prepare detailed maintenance instructions, operational procedures and scopes of work. • Review maintenance reports from onboard teams to ensure accuracy and to maintain awareness of equipment condition and performance. • Identify and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to improve processes. • Plan and manage infrastructure modifications, including replacements and upgrades, in alignment with Company change management procedures. • Support hospital operations by ensuring infrastructure compliance with infection control requirements. • Ensure maintenance activities and installations meet applicable medical and marine regulatory standards. • Lead regular technical meetings with onboard hospital maintenance teams and, when appropriate, coordinate with medical staff. • Support People and Culture (P&C) in the evaluation of candidates for hospital technical roles, as required. • Maintain alignment and uphold Mercy Ships Core Values, Code of Conduct. 🎯 Requirements

• A four-year degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or a related technical discipline. • At least four years working in a hospital or healthcare facility in operations and maintenance. • Professional Engineer's license, STCW Regulation III/2 certification or equivalent, preferred. • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards related to hospital infrastructure, including medical gas systems, electrical isolation systems and essential power supplies. Knowledge of marine codes important but not required. • Experience with the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical building services (HVAC, piping systems, water systems, etc.) as it relates to hospital systems. • Proven experience in maintenance planning, defect management and contractor coordination. • Familiarity with planned maintenance systems (PMS) and maintenance reporting processes. • Ability to develop procedures, technical documentation and scopes of work. • Strong understanding of safety management principles and risk assessment processes. • Comfortable learning new software platforms. Competent in spreadsheets and word processing.
