📋 Description

• Ensure Midnite is always up, fast and resilient • Build and lead the Australian backend/platform team; set engineering practices and culture • Identify and drive reliability improvement work, including systems design and architecture • Design, develop, test, and maintain software and systems • Participate in code reviews and maintain code quality • Participate in daytime on-call and incident response roster • Collaborate with local Australia team and UK-based Platform and Backend teams • Focus on Platform Engineering to accelerate engineering efficiency as the team grows • Report to Site Operations Lead and work within Site Operations team (SREs and Backend Engineers) • Travel for quarterly team meetups

🎯 Requirements

• Australia-based (remote, must be Australia-based) • Lead/Platform/Backend engineering experience; reliability/SRE responsibility • Familiarity with Python and AWS; experience with Flask, Pytest, Mypy, Docker, PostgreSQL, SQS, S3, Terraform preferred • Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software and systems • Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code • Participate in code reviews and ensure codebase quality • Daytime on-call and incident response participation, including some daytime weekend work if incidents occur • Able to travel for quarterly team meet ups in an Australian capital city • Collaboration and leadership: work with local Australia team and UK Platform/Backend teams; drive reliability improvements and systems architecture • High engineering standards and commitment to developer experience
