📋 Description

• Work as part of a team to ensure viable funding options are assessed, processed, and monitored efficiently and with high customer satisfaction. • A litigation finance underwriter must consider the proposed deal structure and economics of a proposed investment. • Analyze the merits underlying the complaint. • Evaluate the facts of the case, the court in which it is filed, the types of claims brought, the counsel representing the plaintiff, and the overall narrative describing the harm which prompted the lawsuit. • Evaluate the facts in each new matter against established case law and compare the merits to other similar situations. • Analyze the validity of a wide range of claim types and jurisdictions based on evidence, facts, and the applicable law. • Determine if the plaintiff has reasonable expectations for the outcome of the litigation. • Ensure funding company interests in the investment are aligned with those of the plaintiff. • Assess the size of a possible award and if it will be adequate to yield the funder with a profit to meet the financing risk in addition to sufficient compensation for the plaintiff. • Investigate the collectability risk, or the possibility that defendants won’t be able to gather the funds to pay the full judgment amount. • Monitor funding outcomes and analyze fundings that failed to yield an adequate return. • Recommend funding policy changes to reduce poor funding outcomes. • Other related duties as assigned.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of personal injury litigation experience, as a paralegal, insurance adjuster, or similar. • Plaintiff and defense personal injury experience is a plus. • A four-year undergraduate degree is preferred. • Management or leadership experience is important. • Must be able to develop, implement, and maintain very organized methods to managing daily activities. • Basic computer use, Microsoft Office, and Excel spreadsheet skills are required. • Bilingual with the ability to speak English and Spanish is preferred.
