📋 Description

• Design and evolve frontend platform foundations powering n8n’s workflow-building experience • Enable product engineers and the open-source community to ship complex, reliable, high-performance user experiences across cloud and self-hosted deployments • Own and evolve core frontend platform primitives • Strengthen plugin systems, extension points, and frontend developer experience • Modularize the evolving frontend codebase • Work on architecture for the canvas-based workflow-building experience • Build and improve real-time collaboration using WebSockets, CRDTs, or multiplayer synchronization patterns • Design interactive frontend systems with correctness, accessibility, and user experience in mind • Improve rendering performance, runtime behavior, and responsiveness • Use performance measurement, profiling, and optimization to identify bottlenecks • Contribute to web worker orchestration and frontend infrastructure • Drive technical decisions through proposals, RFCs, and engineering discussions • Collaborate with product engineers, QA, DX, Security, Staff Architects, and the open-source community • Support peers through code reviews, pairing, mentoring, and knowledge sharing

🎯 Requirements

• Experience building architecture-heavy frontend products such as canvas-based tools, real-time applications, collaborative editors, or similarly complex interfaces • Ability to measure, debug, and improve runtime performance in large frontend applications • Strong TypeScript frontend experience • Comfort working in a large, evolving codebase • Experience owning meaningful frontend systems, leading migrations, or re-architecting complex product areas • Systems-thinking approach focused on trade-offs, correctness, platform contracts, maintainability, and long-term scalability • Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration • Interest in refactoring, modularization, technical-debt reduction, and improving existing systems • Experience with CRDTs, multiplayer systems, collaborative editors, or real-time communication layers (nice-to-have) • Experience with plugin systems, extension architectures, micro-frontends, or web worker orchestration (nice-to-have) • Vue experience or willingness to work deeply in a Vue-based frontend codebase (nice-to-have) • Open-source contribution or maintenance experience (nice-to-have) • Experience with workflow engines, developer tools, infrastructure-adjacent SaaS, or technical products (nice-to-have) • Large-scale SaaS exposure (nice-to-have) • Experience with cloud, single-tenant, or self-hosted deployments (nice-to-have) • Experience with instrumentation, debugging, rollout safety, and observability (nice-to-have) • Existing right to work is required for countries other than Germany; n8n can sponsor visas to Germany • Company language is English
