• Lead and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on delivering world-class Shopify-native solutions that delight both merchants and end consumers. • Translate business and product requirements into clear technical roadmaps and engineering execution plans. • Partner closely with Product Management to define the technical strategy—building scalable, intelligent, and secure integrations leveraging platform APIs, webhooks, and workflows. • Inspire, mentor, and develop your team, fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement. • Drive modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and observability, ensuring frequent, high-quality releases. • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, UX, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure a seamless experience across the Shopify merchant lifecycle. • Partner with Recruiting to attract, hire, and retain exceptional, diverse engineering talent. • Provide production support for key merchant experiences, proactively improving reliability, scalability, and performance.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience. • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5+ years managing managers and senior engineers. • Proven experience building and scaling high-performance SaaS products in an agile, cloud-native environment. • Hands-on technical expertise in at least one of: Ruby, Java, Python, Go, or Node.js, with a deep understanding of API-driven architectures. • Experience with the Shopify ecosystem—including APIs, Flows, webhooks, OMS, POS, and payment systems—is highly preferred. • Demonstrated ability to build scalable, reliable, and high-availability systems using modern frameworks and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP). • Track record of partnering closely with Product and Design to deliver high-quality features at speed. • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. • A leadership style that values empowerment, inclusion, and technical excellence.
