📋 Description

• Shape and implement donor communications strategy for the Latin America Region, Country Business Units, and Iconic Places • Support the Director of Donor Communications, Development colleagues, conservation teams, and regional leadership • Lead complex, high-priority, and multi-country initiatives from strategy through delivery • Assess needs, clarify objectives and audiences, recommend narrative and positioning approaches, align stakeholders, and oversee execution, review, and evaluation • Advise stakeholders on communicating conservation strategies, results, funding needs, and institutional priorities to philanthropic audiences • Resolve messaging challenges, reconcile competing input, and protect donor relevance, accuracy, cultural fit, and strategic alignment • Represent Donor Communications in regional, global, and cross-functional initiatives • Act on behalf of the Director in designated meetings, planning processes, and projects • Provide senior communications counsel for fundraising opportunities, leadership engagements, campaigns, and institutional initiatives • Provide functional leadership for editorial standards, messaging frameworks, multilingual content, systems, processes, and capability-building • Lead or oversee funding proposals, concept notes, regional and country overviews, donor trip materials, stewardship reports, campaign collateral, presentations, impact reports, leadership messages, and other strategic donor communications products • Develop regional donor communications strategy, priorities, work plans, messaging frameworks, and content plans aligned with Development and conservation goals • Advise senior stakeholders on donor positioning, narrative strategy, audience needs, and emerging communications opportunities or challenges • Lead and coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in highly matrixed environments across regional and global teams • Manage objectives, audiences, timelines, roles, reviews, risks, and tradeoffs • Provide functional oversight for editorial quality, multilingual content, regional messaging, major and principal gift communications, workflows, tools, standards, training, and vendor relationships • Lead high-priority donor communications for cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, campaigns, and major or principal gift opportunities • Synthesize complex conservation, financial, programmatic, and stakeholder input into accurate, compelling content in English, Spanish, and Portuguese • Shape donor communications practices and standards across multiple countries in Latin America • Provide mentorship, guidance, and subject matter expertise to communications and development colleagues across the region

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, philanthropy, international affairs, conservation, or a related field and at least five to seven years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience • Experience developing communications strategies and donor-facing fundraising materials supporting cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, campaigns, and major gifts opportunities • Experience advising senior stakeholders, influencing without direct authority, facilitating alignment among differing priorities, and presenting strategic recommendations • Experience leading complex cross-functional, regional, or multi-country initiatives from planning through implementation while managing priorities, deadlines, reviews, and deliverables • Strong writing, editing, storytelling, narrative strategy, synthesis, project management, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills • Professional fluency in English and Spanish • Advanced proficiency in Portuguese, including the ability to review materials, participate in meetings, and collaborate directly with Portuguese-speaking colleagues • Experience working across departments, functions, cultures, and geographies • Experience handling sensitive or confidential information with discretion • More than seven years of progressively responsible experience in donor communications, fundraising communications, strategic communications, or a related field (desired) • Experience supporting major or principal gift fundraising, institutional campaigns, complex donor engagement strategies, donor visits, senior leadership engagements, or stewardship initiatives (desired) • Experience developing regional or multi-country communications for diverse cultural, philanthropic, and geographic audiences across Latin America and international donor markets (desired) • Experience acting as a deputy, senior adviser, or principal strategic partner to a communications or Development leader (desired) • Ability to interpret conservation outcomes, financial information, impact metrics, program results, and technical information for donor audiences (desired) • Familiarity with donor communications trends, visual storytelling, design best practices, content management systems, project management platforms, AI-assisted content tools, and digital collaboration technologies (desired) • Ability to meet The Nature Conservancy’s background screening requirements
