📋 Description

• Understand an existing multi-product architecture before proposing changes • Assess code and design quality, including correctness on money/stock paths, security posture, and coupling between product lines • Write RFCs and ADRs for new and evolving systems, documenting assumptions, failure modes, capacity, and security • Make extend-versus-rebuild decisions with migration paths built in • Address multi-currency payments, fraud and abuse exposure, PCI DSS scope, third-party supplier integrations, and traffic spikes up to 65x baseline • Pair directly with the client's engineering manager and team within planning, standups, and design reviews • Put system designs into production

🎯 Requirements

• Roughly 5-8 years of experience • Ability to design services using bounded contexts and minimize cross-service dependencies • Ability to design for expected peak load and validate limits through testing • Ability to build reusable components with documentation and migration paths • Ability to diagnose issues across service boundaries • Ability to write architecture decision records (ADRs) • Secure-by-default design, including rate limits, velocity checks, and idempotency • Ability to explain every line of AI-generated code shipped • Testing coverage for edge and failure cases • Working command of OWASP Top 10 • Knowledge of secrets management, input validation, and data handling • Strong written English • Collaborative, reasoning-based technical decision-making style
