• Support the facilitation and maintenance of an efficient and effective financial accounting and reporting controls system • Perform a variety of complex accounting duties in compliance with GAAP • Support daily operational aspects of accounting and financial reporting, regulatory reporting, cash management, and financial system maintenance • Maintain property accounting records and perform physical inventory • Receive, sort, and proof accounting documents; post entries to ledger accounts; prepare reports, financial statements and reconciliations • Provide guidance and support to Accounting Department staff and make recommendations to improve policies and procedures • Prepare monthly financial statistical reports and record end-of-month closing journal entries • Reconcile and verify general ledger accounts daily and prepare accounting entries as needed • Verify and post daily journal entries and report/remit multi-state unclaimed property reports • Perform fixed asset physical inventory and reconcile bank and other statements • Act as backup to the Controller and prepare reports for Accounting, Finance and Credit Union leadership • Coordinate and review daily accounting activities and support periodic financial close and reporting activities • Maintain and monitor financial controls, systems, and workbooks • Prepare and review advanced/complex accounting functions including loan accounting, investment accounting, CECL, FAS91, FAS157, consolidation accounting, financial reporting and financial data analysis/visualization • Review and approve workpapers, investigate inconsistencies, and advise team members on non-routine transactions • Support budgeting and forecasting, planning, monitoring, analysis, and reporting
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required • CPA highly preferred • Minimum of five to seven years of professional accounting experience in a Financial Institution or Public Accounting Firm • Excellent working knowledge and experience with GAAP • Excellent analytical skills with proven business and financial acumen • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of staff, management and senior management • Strong organizational skills • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks • Requires strong mathematical and analytical skill • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel with the ability to create, update and maintain files with complex and conditional formulas and formatting • Thorough knowledge of financial institution compliance requirements and regulations governing financial institutions • Experience with cash management, collateral management, capital analysis and liquidity management • Knowledge of Asset Liability Modeling and cash flow analysis • Experience with loan accounting, investment accounting, allowance for loan losses (CECL), FAS91 accounting, FAS157 accounting
