• The Foundation Engagement Manager plays a critical role in advancing the mission of NMDP by building and sustaining strong, meaningful relationships with the Board of Directors and other volunteer leaders of the Board of ambassadors. • This position will design and implement strategies that deepen board member and volunteer engagement, nurture board relationships, strengthen philanthropic partnerships, and expand opportunities for leadership involvement. • The role will also support establishing special committees and volunteer leadership initiatives where opportunities arise. • This position reports to the Director, Stewardship and collaborates closely with development staff, executive leadership, and board officers. • Design and implement tailored engagement plans for current Board members to deepen their connection, advocacy, and philanthropic leadership. • Partner with Advancement leadership to cultivate, steward, and maintain ties with past Board members, ensuring lifelong relationships with the mission. • Collaborate with development staff to align board engagement with broader fundraising strategies, integrating board members where appropriate. • Provide follow-up and timely responses to board action items and requests. • Support and drive Board engagement activities, including ambassador roles, fundraising campaigns, and participation in special events. • Provide strategic support to Foundation Board of Directors, special committees, and ad hoc volunteer leadership groups as needed. • Serve as a staff partner to select volunteer leaders, fostering collaboration, communication, and accountability. • Coordinate with the Executive Director and serve as a liaison between the Board and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment of activities. • Own and manage all board-facing communications and follow-ups, ensuring timely, accurate, and consistent messaging to volunteer leaders. • Contribute to special projects, initiatives, and strategic opportunities to strengthen leadership engagement across the Foundation. • Provide operational support for the Board and Board of Ambassadors. • Partner with the Executive Assistant as needed to support Board communication and delivering a collaborative, cohesive, and consistent experience for Board members. • Facilitate engagement opportunities for Board members outside of regularly scheduled meetings.
• Strong understanding of board governance and philanthropic best practices. • Fundraising and stewardship best practices, particularly as they relate to major donors, campaigns, and board-driven philanthropy. • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage executive leadership and high-level volunteers. • Think strategically with strong organizational and project management skills. • Work directly with nonprofit Boards of Directors, special committees, and high-level volunteer leadership groups. • Integrate board engagement into broader philanthropic strategies. • Draft board-facing communications, meeting materials, or stewardship reports at the executive or board level. • Facilitate meetings and small-group engagement with senior leaders and volunteers. • Use CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar) to track board and donor engagement. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. • 2-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, board relations, donor engagement, or related fields. • Demonstrated success in relationship management and high-level volunteer engagement. • Commitment to the mission of the NMDP Foundation.
