📋 Description

• Take technical ownership of core components of the production OpenStack platform and further develop their architecture • Design OpenStack Networking with a focus on Neutron and integrate virtual networks into datacenter and backbone infrastructure • Analyze complex packet flows across compute nodes, virtual switches, overlay networks, routers, firewalls and load balancers • Evolve network architecture for IPv4 and IPv6 including routing, NAT, DHCP, DNS, security groups and floating IPs • Plan and support upgrades, migrations and lifecycle operations of the OpenStack platform • Automate recurring tasks and platform changes using Ansible, Python, Terraform or OpenTofu and Git • Continuously improve monitoring, alerting, capacity management and operational technical standards • Analyze performance, stability and scalability issues across multiple technical layers • Handle complex incidents and problems at 2nd and 3rd level and derive sustainable technical improvements • Collaborate closely with network, storage, Kubernetes and automation teams • Document architecture decisions, operating procedures and automations in an auditable and traceable manner • Mentor less experienced colleagues and actively share knowledge within the team

🎯 Requirements

• Several years of professional experience in engineering and operating complex Linux, network or cloud infrastructures • Solid hands-on experience with OpenStack in production environments • Strong knowledge of OpenStack Networking, particularly Neutron, OVN or Open vSwitch • Very good Linux skills and a solid understanding of virtualization • Confident handling of routing, switching, VLANs, overlay networks, MTU, DNS, DHCP, NAT and firewalling • Experience in systematic troubleshooting across multiple technical layers • Experience with automation using Ansible; ideally also knowledge of Python, Terraform or OpenTofu • Experience with Git and a reproducible, version-controlled working style • Experience with monitoring, performance analysis as well as upgrade and lifecycle processes • Willingness and enthusiasm to take on technical responsibility and to represent architecture decisions transparently • Good German and English language skills • Completed IT training, a technical degree or comparable qualification with several years of professional experience
