📋 Description

• Join the Platform team as the first dedicated Senior Mobile Engineer • Shape Nory’s mobile app from the ground up • Rebuild Nory Team, the restaurant-floor app used for clock-ins, shifts, leave booking, and pay • Own the mobile platform end to end, from assessment through production rebuild and ongoing development • Set architecture, plan migration, and ship an MVP within one to two quarters • Grow the rebuilt app into a platform for the wider engineering team • Build reliable experiences for patchy connectivity, low-spec devices, and offline caching scenarios • Implement and maintain push notifications, camera-based receipt and inventory scanning, and geolocation-verified clock-in • Make and defend product and UX trade-offs with lean design support • Establish a React Native design system and codebase suitable for AI-agent-assisted development • Own mobile codebase quality and delivery pace • Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineers across the business • Serve as the outward-facing hub of a small platform team

🎯 Requirements

• Deep experience with React Native; production React Native apps in TypeScript • Ability to run a mobile codebase independently from start to finish • Experience building native-only features such as push notifications, camera access, or geolocation • Comfortable reading and lightly extending FastAPI backend services • Comfortable working in a React web codebase when needed • Experience with apps handling real usage and tens of thousands of actions per day • Careful attention to API calls, webhooks, performance, reliability, and scale • Demonstrated product or UX decisions that changed what was built • Ability to make independent product and UX decisions • Experience using AI agents while maintaining high standards for detail, design, and craft • Experience structuring codebases with a design system or shared component library • Experience with a greenfield build or major legacy-app migration • Ability to explain architecture, testing, and migration decisions • Independent ownership of problems and outcomes • Clear and confident written and verbal communication • Right to work in the UK or EU without sponsorship; candidates requiring visa sponsorship cannot be progressed • Bonus: experience building people tech or HR tech workflows at scale • Bonus: web and mobile platform team background • Bonus: B2C or consumer-grade app experience • Bonus: hands-on Swift or Kotlin/native API experience • Bonus: hospitality, food service, or operational industry experience
