📋 Description

• Manage the placement of reinsurance for complex new and renewal Obsidian programs independently. • Handle complex reinsurance placements and complex contract negotiations independently. • Attend reinsurance placement meetings as needed, in person or virtually. • Represent Obsidian at industry conferences to convey Obsidian business model and appetite for program placements. • Develop and foster relationships with reinsurers to expand capacity for Obsidian programs. • Handle all negotiation of reinsurance business terms to achieve optimal economics for Obsidian and the MGA. • Provide summary of quoted terms and track all subjectivities (i.e. LR caps, ECO/XPL, unique features, restrictions, etc.). • Review and analyze reinsurance marketing list presented to ensure they meet Obsidian’s financial requirements and program objectives given covered lines of business, volatility, etc.. Also identify additional markets as applicable. • Work closely with the legal team to review and finalize reinsurance contracts. • Manage reinsurance activities through treaty period (i.e. reinsurer requests for audits, special acceptances, etc.) coordinating with other internal functions as appropriate. • Develop power point marketing presentations for reinsurance discussions as needed.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 20 years of property and casualty reinsurance industry, either working with a reinsurance intermediary, reinsurer or insurer handling reinsurance placement • Strong knowledge of reinsurance contracts and experience structuring complex reinsurance agreements • Ability to work independently for placements and make decisions to manage placement process • Experience with Program, MGA, and /or MGU business preferred • Professional designation (CPCU, ARe), a plus • Ability to work collaboratively across other company functions (actuarial, underwriting, claims) • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Strong negotiation skills • Sales and marketing skills • Existing relationships with reinsurance brokers • Existing relationships with reinsurers and ability to develop new reinsurer relationships • Travel up to 20%
