📋 Description

• Join the Restaurant Platform Team to maintain event-based architecture, data warehouse, data pipelines, reports & insights and APIs • Make technical and architectural decisions to ensure platforms are scalable, highly available, reliable and high performing under peak traffic • Build and design OpenTable’s core reporting insights platform for restaurants globally • Work as a key member of a multi-functional product team with product managers, designers and engineers • Build data pipelines to support real-time ingestion and aggregation of millions of events • Develop and fine-tune databases and write complex SQL for large datasets • Operate and troubleshoot production systems, participate in incident response and debugging across services • Mentor others, contribute technical leadership and collaborate across distributed teams

🎯 Requirements

• Expert in Java, Spring framework, Spring Boot, and Hibernate • Experience with large-scale, distributed, service-oriented, and event-driven architectures • Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, performance, high availability, scalability, reliability, and security • Strong communication and collaboration skills • Ability to write complex SQL queries on tables with hundreds of millions of records and achieve sub-second results • Experience with RDBMS (e.g., MySQL, Postgres) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and ability to fine-tune under the hood • Experience building data pipelines for real-time data ingestion and aggregation of millions of events • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and message buses like Kafka • Calm under incidents and experienced debugging production issues across services and stack levels • Desire to mentor and be mentored; continuous learner • Professional, personable, and collaborative demeanor • (Nice to have) Knowledge of system performance and operational readiness monitoring • (Nice to have) Experience collaborating with remote teams across time zones • (Nice to have) Experience working as a full-stack engineer • (Nice to have) Familiarity with resiliency patterns (bulkheads, circuit breakers, fallbacks, load shedding)
