📋 Description

• Serve as the technical owner on a client platform • Design, build, and maintain features end-to-end within a Ruby on Rails application • Manage work from requirements through deployment and production support • Design and implement resilient API client patterns, including retries, exponential backoff, circuit breaking, and idempotent request handling • Integrate third-party REST APIs with rate limits, usage quotas, or uptime constraints • Work with AWS services at the application-integration level, including RDS and Secrets Manager • Design and support event-driven and webhook-based architectures • Participate in CI/CD pipeline workflows and manage code promotion across environments • Maintain clean commit practices and participate in disciplined code reviews • Troubleshoot, triage, and resolve production issues as part of ongoing platform support • Communicate with technical and business stakeholders • Operate autonomously while maintaining engineering, documentation, and quality discipline

🎯 Requirements

• 5–6 years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails, including end-to-end design and development of production applications • Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, schema design, data modeling, and query performance tuning • Proven experience integrating third-party REST APIs, particularly those with rate limits, quotas, or uptime constraints • Experience designing resilient API clients with retries, exponential backoff, circuit breaking, and idempotency handling • Working knowledge of AWS at an application-integration level, including RDS and Secrets Manager • Hands-on experience with background job processing frameworks such as Sidekiq or ActiveJob • Experience with event-driven or webhook-based system architecture • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and structured environment promotion workflows • Strong command of Ruby and Rails fundamentals, idioms, and best practices • Disciplined git workflow habits and experience participating in code reviews • Experience building rules-based or deterministic calculation/business-logic engines with configurable, versioned parameters is preferred • Experience integrating multiple third-party data APIs and reconciling or blending their outputs is preferred • Domain exposure to logistics, freight, transportation, or supply-chain systems is preferred • Experience transitioning from a build team into a long-term support/maintenance role is preferred • Exposure to timezone-sensitive data handling is preferred • Experience with Jira or similar ticketing and prioritization systems is preferred • Experience with incident triage and root cause analysis is preferred • Experience maintaining technical documentation and knowledge bases is preferred • Experience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers is preferred • Ability to operate as a senior technical owner with significant autonomy • Clear written communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Ability to sustain strong documentation and quality discipline across a long-term engagement
