• Track US politics, elections, Congress, press conferences, and policy debates to spot timely and trending stories. • Go beyond surface-level reporting — develop sharp, unique angles that stand out in a crowded media landscape • Write clear, accurate, and engaging stories of 400+ words optimized for digital audiences. • Craft click-worthy headlines and strong leads that drive traffic and shares • Fact-check swiftly using credible sources to ensure accuracy and credibility • Monitor social media for viral political chatter and reframe it into smart coverage • Collaborate with editors and colleagues to maintain speed, quality, and consistency.
🎯 Requirements
• 3+ years of newsroom or digital publishing experience (political reporting preferred but not required) • Strong knowledge of U.S. politics, government, and current affairs • Proven ability to spot not just stories, but angles that resonate with digital audiences • Excellent writing, editing, and grammar skills with a knack for storytelling • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, remote setup • Familiarity with CMS platforms, Google Docs, and digital publishing tools like Canva
