📋 Description

• Provide exceptional customer support via ticketing system and phone • Detect network events in a timely manner using monitoring tools • Mitigate DDoS attacks to protect customer and shared infrastructure • Document planned and unplanned network events in tracking and turnover systems • Troubleshoot and resolve network events and create event documentation • Own level-appropriate customer requests, issues, and engineering escalations through resolution • Escalate support requests to next-level engineers and communicate with Incident Management • Escalate issues to vendors and follow up to ensure resolution • Adhere to Change Management and Maintenance policies and processes • Participate in and provide input to Root Cause Analysis • Own assigned or self-identified projects and ensure complete documentation and resolution • Review, help define, and sign off on policy and process standards • Maintain ticket contribution, phone availability, first-pass yield, maintenance quality, and prompt network-event responses • Maintain proficiency in troubleshooting tools and technologies • Identify process improvements and engage managers and teams to implement them • Mentor other engineers and delegate tasks as appropriate

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of recent networking experience in a command-line oriented environment • At least 18 months of experience with responsibility for configuration and problem resolution of OSPF and/or BGP • CCNP-level aptitude • Minimum of 12 months of experience in a customer service role • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Critical thinking skills and ability to provide precise solutions during high-pressure situations • Intermediate to advanced aptitude with supported network platforms, including Cisco 2900, 3500, 3700, 4900, 6500, ASR1k, ASR9k, Nexus 3k, Nexus 6k, Nexus 7k, and Arista 7000 • Proficiency with Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols and features, including STP, HSRP, VLANs, CDP, port-channels, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and DWDM • Experience with monitoring systems including Arbor, Zenoss, Syslog, SolarWinds, and WhatsUp Gold • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure • Ability to delegate tasks to other engineers • Detail-oriented documentation and ownership of customer issues through resolution • Desire to expand technical knowledge and mentor other engineers • Schedule flexibility to work a weekend day regularly and holidays as required by the business
