📋 Description

• Take technical ownership within the Retail domain • Guide architectural decisions related to scalability, performance, and maintainability • Turn complex technical challenges into pragmatic solutions • Shape customer-facing solutions from discovery and technical design through implementation, rollout, and production • Evolve engineering practices, shared components, and architectural patterns • Create consistent, reusable, and high-quality experiences at scale • Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, design discussions, and technical feedback • Create alignment around technical decisions and raise engineering standards across the Retail domain • Partner with Product Owners, UX, and engineering colleagues • Explore opportunities, identify risks early, and balance technical trade-offs, customer value, and long-term sustainability

🎯 Requirements

• Deep software engineering expertise with a strong background in frontend or backend engineering, or both • Staff/Principal-level experience or equivalent technical leadership • Strong architecture and system design capabilities • Ability to take ownership of complex technical decisions with a high degree of autonomy • Strong track record of mentoring engineers and leading through influence • Ability to create alignment without formal authority • Strong product thinking combined with engineering depth • Ability to work effectively with Product and UX • Ability to evaluate trade-offs and validate ideas pragmatically • Experience determining when solutions need to scale versus when the priority is learning quickly • Experience with React.js, Next.js, Java, ES6, ESI, Varnish, Docker, Google Cloud, or Kubernetes
