Restate is a lightweight runtime and durable execution platform for building resilient AI agents, workflows, and backend services. It stores progress and automatically resumes code after failures, eliminating infrastructure and defensive plumbing. Developers write durable steps in familiar languages (TypeScript, Python, Go, Java/Kotlin, Rust) and deploy to servers, containers, or serverless platforms (Kubernetes, Vercel, Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda, Fargate, Google Cloud Run, etc. ). Restate offers a high-performance Rust runtime with low latency and high throughput, supports self-hosting or Restate Cloud, and is positioned as an alternative to systems like Temporal. It targets long‑running, event‑driven, and distributed applications including AI agents and orchestration.

📋 Description

• Own, architect, design, and ship the core Restate UI • Collaborate with engineers in whiteboarding sessions and deliver production-ready code • Present execution timelines, retries, queues, state, and failures clearly • Build interfaces for large datasets, live updates, filtering, search, charts, and timelines • Design loading, empty, partial, error, single-result, and high-volume states • Optimize rendering cost, data loading, and perceived latency • Maintain consistent concepts and terminology across the UI, SDKs, and documentation • Visually communicate durable execution and technically complex systems • Build reusable, scalable components and interaction patterns for the design system • Work directly with the founding team and operate with significant autonomy

🎯 Requirements

• Production front-end skills with React, TypeScript, and modern HTML/CSS • Ability to take a feature from concept through shipped and deployed independently • Portfolio of shipped work demonstrating both design craft and code • Strong design sensibility and high visual bar • Information design skills, including hierarchy, density, and progressive disclosure • Experience building data-intensive interfaces with pagination, virtualization, filtering, search, and charts • Front-end performance optimization experience, including rendering, long lists, re-renders, and bundle size • Visual storytelling for technical concepts • Motion design ability implemented in code • Experience building design systems in code • Ability to read API specifications, queries, and backend code • AI literacy and use of AI to increase impact • Significant autonomy and comfort working directly with the founding team • Nice to have: developer tools, infrastructure, or AI product experience • Nice to have: data visualization experience • Nice to have: accessibility and keyboard-first interface experience • Nice to have: creative development experience with Three.js or GLSL shaders • Nice to have: backend development comfort • Nice to have: serverless deployment experience with Cloudflare Workers, Vercel, or similar, including edge runtimes, caching, and cold starts • Must be a senior individual contributor rather than seeking to lead a design team • Must be both a designer and a coder • Must be interested in technical subject matter
