📋 Description

• Define and evolve technical and architectural standards for the use of relational and non-relational databases across the organization • Administer and support the operation of databases in production, staging, and development environments • Support development and architecture teams in selecting the most appropriate persistence technology for each workload • Define best practices for creating and using databases, schemas, users, roles, permissions, indexes, and other database objects • Define and implement high availability, replication, failover, and database recovery strategies • Guide operational strategies for database backup, restoration, disaster recovery, monitoring, performance, capacity, and scalability • Support load testing, capacity planning, and scalability analysis of solutions • Define and implement database observability standards, including metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts • Work with databases running in public cloud environments and container-based platforms • Support the operation of data workloads running on Kubernetes, including their persistence, availability, scalability, and platform integration mechanisms • Automate database provisioning, configuration, and operations using IaC, CI/CD, and GitOps, contributing to Database as a Service (DBaaS) and self-service capabilities for development teams • Support database migration and modernization processes across on-premises, cloud, and container platforms • Define and apply security best practices, including encryption, access segregation, credential management, and the principle of least privilege • Produce technical documentation, architectural standards, runbooks, and operating procedures • Support troubleshooting and the handling of complex database-related incidents • Evaluate new technologies and propose improvements to the data architecture and platform • Collaborate frequently with Platform, Development, Infrastructure, Security, and Architecture teams

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field • Graduate degree or specialization in Cloud Computing, Databases, Software Architecture, or a related field • Strong experience administering databases in production environments • Advanced knowledge of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL • Experience with other relational databases, such as MySQL, SQL Server, or equivalent technologies • Strong SQL knowledge, including advanced queries, indexes, execution plans, and performance optimization • Knowledge of database architecture, replication, high availability, and failover strategies • Experience with backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and Point-in-Time Recovery • Knowledge of defining and applying RPO and RTO • Experience with database performance analysis, troubleshooting, and capacity planning • Experience with managed database services from public cloud providers • Experience with AWS and Azure environments • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and tools such as Terraform or equivalent technologies • Knowledge of containers and Kubernetes, including stateful workload concepts, persistence, volumes, storage classes, secrets, and high availability • Knowledge of automation practices and integration with CI/CD pipelines • Knowledge of GitOps concepts and practices • Knowledge of or experience with Platform Engineering practices and Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) • Experience with monitoring and observability tools, such as Grafana, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or equivalent technologies • Knowledge of database security practices, including encryption, access control, auditing, and credential management • Knowledge of scripting or programming for automation, using languages such as Python, Shell scripting, or equivalent technologies • Experience with database migration and modernization • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex availability, performance, and scalability issues • Ability to analyze application requirements and propose appropriate persistence architectures • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
