• Complete clinical data abstraction for all reportable & non-reportable primary sites of cancer according to reporting and timeliness guidelines. • Maintains Active ODS-C certification and meets productivity standards and quality benchmarks while assuring confidentiality, accuracy, and timeliness of cancer-related health information. • Reviews EMR to identify cancer cases and abstract patient demographics, tumor details, treatment, and outcomes. • Abstracts data into specialized medical software. • Tracks patients throughout their lifetime to document health, treatment, and progression of disease. • Provide cancer incidence, treatment and outcome information to databases.
• Active ODS-C (Oncology Data Specialist – Certified) credential. • Knowledge of latest guidelines from standard setters (CoC, SEER, and NAACCR), and the ability to apply them accurately. • Minimum of 2 years of current abstracting experience in a cancer registry. • Experience in CoC-accredited or comprehensive cancer programs. • High-speed internet access and experience with remote access, set-up, and troubleshooting technical issues. • Effective communication skills with supervisors and peers and appropriate communication with clients. • Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision. • Self-starter with the ability to work effectively within the role, independently and with other team members. • Strong attention to detail and willingness to grow technical competencies.
