📋 Description

• Secfix automates security compliance (ISO 27001, GDPR, TISAX, SOC 2) for SMBs in Europe; early-stage fully-remote startup with >$1M ARR and VC backing • Relocation: role offers relocation from the USA to Germany with visa sponsorship after a successful 3-month period • Be the go-to person for backend in your product area and help shape technical direction with the CTO and Tech Lead • Work closely with product, design and customers to identify, plan, design, build and ship features • Deploy, monitor, troubleshoot, debug, support, maintain and evolve features and code under your responsibility • Leverage AI-powered engineering tools (Cursor, Claude, GPT) to accelerate development, debugging, and testing • Own and maintain product and technical documentation • Mentor and support other team members; follow company culture and communication guidelines • Participate in technical assessments, interviews and virtual on-site interactions (Gather.town)

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience as a full-time backend or product engineer building user-facing products • Strong object oriented programming fundamentals in Java • Spring Boot and Hibernate (or equivalent) experience • Relational database design and SQL optimisation • Testing, monitoring and troubleshooting experience • Ability to design and build backend systems that can scale in features and concurrent usage • Experience owning features end-to-end, from idea to execution to delivery in production • Experience communicating software design ideas and adapting to feedback before coding • Ability to mentor other developers and perform code reviews • Balance speed and quality; build leverage through automation, abstractions and good software design • Experience with Golang and/or Typescript is a bonus • Extensive experience with AI-powered engineering tools (Cursor, Claude); know strengths, weaknesses, and how to validate outputs • Comfortable collaborating and communicating in a remote environment, especially in writing and with Loom • Comfortable with startup ambiguity and wearing multiple hats
