📋 Description

• Perform design of LV, HV, EHV electrical power systems with emphasis on design of electrical power substations of transmission and distribution systems. • Collaborate with a team of engineers and drafters to support substation engineering design projects. • Develop single-line switching and protection diagrams. • Develop three-line and DC schematic diagrams. • Develop and maintain a bill of material. • Develop cable and conduit schedule, including sizing. • Conduct required calculations and create reports: AC and DC systems including sizing DC battery, overvoltage protection and coordination, conduit fill, grounding, and lightning protection. • Develop control panel layouts and wiring diagrams; select protective devices and ratings. • Review and coordinate substation physical drawings and calculations including general arrangements, clearances, details, conduit, grounding, and lightning protection. • Assure that all engineering documents and records are properly maintained. • Coordinate/guidance of designers/drafters and detailed review/approval of electrical drawings. • Participate in the development of less experienced engineers and designers. • Provide engineering specifications and other information required by purchasing to procure equipment. • Select and order substation materials and/or equipment. • Review vendor submittals.

🎯 Requirements

• Associate of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering - required • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Electrical Power Engineering - preferred • Educational courses in power systems analysis, electrical machinery, etc. • Knowledge of NEC, ANSI, NEMA, IEEE and other applicable codes and standards. • Highly motivated and able to execute tasks provided adequate supervision. • Good written and verbal communications skills. • Ability to work well with others in a team setting. • Skilled in engineering theories and principles. • Skilled in practice of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations. • Skilled in problem solving in time-sensitive situations. • Demonstrated experience in the following software programs: • Microsoft Word – basic • Microsoft Excel – basic • Microsoft Outlook – basic • AutoCAD (2015 or later) – advanced
