📋 Description

• Map and evaluate the current Mercado IGA search experience, including ranking mechanisms, semantic search, and result relevance • Develop models for clustering equivalent offers to support Buy Box functionality and supplier comparisons • Create conceptual search mechanisms capable of converting purchasing intent into structured product sets • Develop solutions for automatically generating shopping carts from lists, commercial proposals, or natural-language descriptions • Build multicriteria optimization models to recommend cart compositions based on the lowest cost, shortest lead time, or fewest suppliers

🎯 Requirements

• Fellow profile: Master’s degree candidate • Education: completed or currently pursuing a degree • PhD in one of the following or related fields: Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, or Applied Mathematics • Practical or academic experience with search, ranking, or recommendation systems • Knowledge of Python applied to modeling, AI, optimization, or data science • Knowledge of embeddings, vector search, or similarity engines • Experience with optimization algorithms or operations research • Knowledge of multi-agent systems or intelligent-agent architectures • Ability to model decision-making problems involving multiple criteria and constraints • Previous experience in marketplaces, e-commerce, procurement, or supply chain • Experience with Buy Box functionality, product matching, item recommendations, or basket optimization • Knowledge of multicriteria optimization • Experience with Elasticsearch, Typesense, or similar search technologies • Knowledge of graphs, ontologies, or semantic product representation • Publications, research, or applied projects in recommendation systems, optimization, intelligent agents, or smart search • Availability to work 40 hours per week
