📋 Description

• Own the reliability and performance of production ClickHouse clusters hosted on Kubernetes or managed ClickHouse services • Design standard architecture and tooling for dozens of multi-node clusters • Manage cluster provisioning, configuration, scaling, upgrades, and migrations as code • Build monitoring and alerting to detect problems before users notice them • Own backups and disaster recovery, and test restores regularly • Keep clusters secure by default • Plan capacity and control infrastructure costs • Serve as the ClickHouse expert for developers, DevOps engineers, DBAs, and engineering leadership • Advise on schema design, data ingestion, and query performance • Handle routine database requests and automate them where possible • Respond to rare production emergencies, including outside business hours • Lead database root-cause analysis and contribute to postmortems • Maintain documentation and runbooks and share knowledge with the team

🎯 Requirements

• Deep, DBA-level knowledge of ClickHouse from running it in production • Strong SQL, including optimising complex analytical queries and reviewing schema design • Experience designing architecture and automation across dozens of multi-node clusters • Experience running a large fleet of databases is a strong advantage • Production experience running and maintaining stateful workloads on Kubernetes • Production use of a Kubernetes operator to run databases • Experience with version upgrades, backup and restore, and migrating large datasets between clusters or regions with zero or minimal downtime • Strong troubleshooting skills across queries, schema design, Kubernetes, Linux, storage, and networking • Experience building monitoring and alerting with a modern observability stack • Practical database security experience, including encryption in transit and at rest, access control, and secrets management • Infrastructure as code experience with a mainstream tool • At least one programming or scripting language for automation • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure on a major provider • Clear written and spoken communication with engineers and leadership • Ability to take a problem from investigation to production fix independently • Hands-on work on the source code of a Kubernetes operator for databases (nice to have) • Practical use of AI tools for database observability or operational automation (nice to have) • Background in highly regulated environments (nice to have) • Kubernetes or cloud certifications (nice to have)
